On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the premises of the EU Info Center, a conference "Europe on a Doorstep" was organized by the CET Platform organization from Serbia. This conference is part of the project "Making Europe Closer to Citizens", funded by the Europe for Citizens Program.
The lead partner in this project that aims to improve the conditions for civic and democratic participation through raising awareness of local communities about civic activism, is Vila Boa di Bospo from Portugal, with 10 more partner organizations participating in the project from Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Estonia, Italy, Romania, Croatia, Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Poland.
In addition to representatives of the diplomatic corps, HE Virginia Pine, Ambassador of Portugal, HE Oane Cristina Popa, Ambassador of Romania and Mr. Roman Veiksler, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Republic of Slovenia Director of the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society Zarko Stepanovic spoke at the opening of the Conference.
On behalf of the Office, Mr Stepanović emphasized the importance of partnerships and cooperation arising from such transnational projects, which is also an added value of the "Europe for Citizens" Program and a basis for further networking and sharing of experiences.
After a panel discussion on the future of the European Union through the presentation of five possible scenarios, representative of the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society Ms Jelena Todorovic gave a presentation of the Europe for Citizens Program and outlined the key features and general objectives of the Program as well as the priorities for the coming period.
