Regional conference Move. Link. Engage. New Modes of Governance in the Western Balkans was held on December 8th and 9th 2016 in Belgrade. The conference was organized within the program "Europe for Citizens" (EFC), in partnership with Belgrade Open School and with the support of the Museum of Yugoslav History.
This conference gathered more than 100 representatives of CSOs from Western Balkans who had possibility to discuss good governance and opportunities for the development of new models of management in the Western Balkans, the achievements of cooperation between civil society and the state administrations, as well as one of the most important issues at the regional level - the employability of young people. Throughout the debate on this important common themes, the priorities of the "Europe for Citizens" were presented as well as regional experiences related to the preparation and implementation of projects under this Programme.
Key messages of the conference were that without the rule of law and strong institutions there is no progress in the process of European integration. The process of European integration must be based on the participation of citizens in public policy making, transparency and accountability of public authorities.
Conference participants, among also 18 civil society organizations from Serbia selected through a public call, had the opportunity to hear more information about EFC successful projects in the region thet were implemented in the context of both program strand - the European Remembrance and Democraticengagement and civic participation. Representatives of several organizations - Europe House Slavonski Brod (Croatia), Center for Cultural Decontamination, the Ana and Vlade Divac, Humanitarian Law Fund, etc. presented their projects. This conference presented a variety of topics and activities that can be implemented within EFC Programme.
