The Office for CSOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia organized an international conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of successful participation in the European Union's "Europe for Citizens" programme (EFC) in Zagreb. The Office for CSOs is a national contact point for this programme, within which around 100 projects with applicants from the Republic of Croatia have been approved for the past ten years.
The conference "Europe for the Future" was held on 27-28th September 2017, bringing together numerous representatives of the civil sector from Croatia and the region, the European Commission and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) , as well as representatives of contact points for the EFC programme from most countries with the right to participate in the programme. The Office for Cooperation with Civil Society was represented by Marina Tadic.
The conference was opened by Vesna Lendić Kasalo, acting director of the Office for CSOs of the Government of Croatia, and welcoming speeches were held by Branko Baričević, Head of the European Commission Delegation in Croatia, and Marija Pejčinović Burić, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia. Afterwards, Maja Tomičić from the Office for CSOs presented the results of the EFC programme.
During the conference, an informal meeting of EFC contact points and meeting of contact points with representatives of the European Commission and EACEA, were held, dedicated to planning further joint steps in promoting the EFC programme.
One part of the conference was dedicated to the current call for operational grants - structural support within the EFC programme for civil society organizations active at the European level. Within this workshop, civil society activists from Croatia - Ivana Kordic and Serbia - Mirko Popovic, presented their experiences in preparing the application for operational grants.
