The Office for Cooperation with Civil Society in cooperation with the Center for Cultural Decontamination organized a two-day seminar "Socialization and / or Integration of Migrants" in Belgrade on April 26 and 27, 2018.
The seminar was organized within the framework of the Fora project - the development of the concept of European citizenship based on culture of debates and policy making within the European Commission's Action Plan for Integration, funded within the EU program "Europe for Citizens" , scope of 2.3. Projects of civil society organizations. The project owner is TILT organization from Sweden, and one of the partners on the project is the Center for Cultural Decontamination from Serbia. The aim of this project is to promote the mutual integration of migrant and local communities through the joint creation of positive narratives and policies of intercultural dialogue, solidarity and social engagement enabled for and by the citizens of the EU and Serbia.
The two-day seminar held at the Center for Cultural Decontamination was aimed at presenting different models of integration in the European Union based on examples from participants from Croatia, Austria and Sweden, as well as establishing an open dialogue with representatives of the migrant community (asylum seekers , refugees, migrants ) on various topics - European citizenship, integration and solidarity, legal status, education and intercultural dialogue.
On the first day of the seminar "Public Administration and Integration", Sanja Atanasković Opačić, the head of the Group for International Cooperation and European Integration from the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, presented the opportunities offered by EU programs for financing projects designed for working with migrants, in particular the possibilities within the EU program "Europe for Citizens", for which the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society is a contact point. There were also presented some projects that have been implemented so far from this program, which are aimed at better integration of migrants into the local community and improvement of their position.
