The Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, as the national contact point for the EU program "Europe for Citizens", took part in the event "Possibilities for development of culture at the local level - presentation of EU funds and programs for culture". The gathering was organized on June 21, 2018 in Belgrade, within the Creative Europe Forum and was intended for local self-government representatives from all over Serbia.
The gathering was opened by Aleksandra Vukmirovic, Head of the Service for European Integration and International Cooperation in SKGO, who emphasized the importance of applying and participation of cities and municipalities from Serbia in EU programs.
Milan Djordjevic, program manager at Creative Europe Serbia Desk, presented the program, with a special emphasis on the Culture thread. Participants were provided with information about program objectives, budget, as well as priorities and main guidelines for cities and municipalities if they want to submit a project proposal. He also invited representatives of the local self-government to directly contact Creative Europe and organize an individual meeting to get support and help to prepare the project proposal. Finally, examples of successfully implemented projects in Serbia were presented.
Sanja Atanasković Opačić, the head of the Group for International Cooperation and European Integration at the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society, presented the basic characteristics, goals and priorities of the EU program "Europe for Citizens", as well as the criteria for selecting projects, deadlines for applications and other useful information for potential participants. On this occasion, the results of the previous participation of the Republic of Serbia in the Europe for Citizens Program in the period 2013-2017 were presented, and the participants were also able to see a short video about the implementation of this program in our country.
More than 40 representatives of cities and municipalities from Serbia that are engaged in the topic of culture as well as writing proposals for projects financed from EU funds and programs in local governments participated in the gathering.
