"Europe for Citizens" Programme and work of Office for Cooperation with Civil Society presented in Niš

On October 29, 2018, the Office for Civil Society Cooperation presented its work and continued the promotion of the "Europe for Citizens" Programme, since the Office is the national contact for this programme.

In the first part of the presentation, Danilo Rodić from the Department for Planning and Creation of an Enabling Environment for the Development of Civil Society presented the results of the previous work of the Office, the forms of support provided by the Office to public administration bodies and civil society organizations in order to improve their mutual cooperation, as well as planned activities of the Office for the next period. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation, the advantages it brings, especially in the process of adoption of regulations, and pointed to important novelties in the legal framework that represent the starting point for the promotion of civic participation, and thus the participation of civil society organizations in decision-making processes.

Sanja Atanasković Opačić, the head of the Group for International Cooperation and European Integration, presented the basic characteristics, goals and priorities of the Europe for Citizens Programme, as well as the criteria for selecting projects, deadlines for applications and other useful information for potential participants. On this occasion, the results of the five-year participation of the Republic of Serbia in this program in the period 2013-2017, were presented, and the participants were able to see a short video about the implementation of this program in our country.

In a very active discussion, the issue of opportunities for young people's participation in social and political life, as well as the issue of ways and motivation for active civic engagement, were especially considered.

The presentation was attended by about 40 representatives of civil society organizations, local self-governments and secondary school students.
